EBWU attend EBF Council Meetings
24-27 September, 2014 - Bucharest, Romania
Last week, Wednesday 24th - Saturday 27th September, the EBF Council Meetings took place in Bucharest, Romania. It was good to renew friendships and make new ones, to have fellowship together as brothers and sisters in Christ, to worship together, to pray together, to learn together, to support and encourage one another, and to hear how God is at work across Europe. Peace was the theme running through the Council – an apt topic, considering the absence of it in a number of our member countries. From those living in the Middle East came a plea to step down military action in the area and instead to consider investing in education and community improvement.
Among the topics aired were the questions of how best to reach out in mission in our communities and how to identify and train emerging leaders. Many other reports were given.
Four of us represented EBWU at these meetings, Aniko Ujvari, Wies Dijkstra, Didi Oprenova and Margaret Brown, and what a privilege it was to be there among many representatives from across Europe, including the Middle East. It was humbling to hear what God is doing, especially in very difficult circumstances. In spite of the difficulties (or maybe even because of them) the church continues to grow and God’s people are in no way disheartened, but are living for the praise of His glory. We are privileged to belong to such a blessed people.
