Message for Valentine
Why do we like so much the domesticated animals? Because we may trust in them, and they are faithful toward us. The dog became the highest example for the faithfulness. The trustfulness and the faithfulness are not just a very meaningful behavior's features but basic ethical values. It was on the top for centuries. The trustful servant, the trustful warier, soldier are respected. To be faithful to the country, to the nation, the beliefs, ideologies – this was always meaningful. Even we are faithful to our workplace or doctor or hairdresser or just to trades in our shopping.
On the other hand we need to talk about the stronger and wider relations of trustfulness. Which shows among the lovers. How he/she cannot be trustful in case of reaching to her/him through the difficulties, like Romeo and Juliet.
And faithfulness appears in friendships, too, as David and Jonathan are the best examples from the Bible.
One day we woke up and put the question mark after the faithfulness or trustfulness. How can I trust him/her/or it if I find and see a prettier, a nicer, a better, more desirable or more useful one. Anyway, we live in a changeable world. The whole atmosphere around us, the media, the ads inspire us to see and experience the new things, to change when it is dull already. To be faithful became a burden.
But it has a deep root from the far away past, the very first steps of the man and woman in Eden was the same. Why not taste the new one, the lovely one which was desirable? It looked nice and it's beauty grabbed them. Unfaithfulness, shiftiness are in the heart, the mind of mankind. This is a fact. We are sorry about it and sometimes we confess it, but this is what's comes up from our inwards.
It is how it is, so what to do with it? Is the faithfulness an emotion? And this is where we can change what we are talking about. Faithfulness is much more a decision. Conscious verdict. This is how God turns toward the mankind. He undertook us as creations. It gives us freedom to live with it, in this security. Especially generally the effects don't follow our acts. Who cares what will come later on. Carpe diem. Today is our.
So what to do with this question especially now, as it comes up because of Valentine’s day, when we celebrate love, friendship. Is it the holiday of faithfulness?
How to give an answer for the faithfulness? Does it have any benefits in our daily life? Let us change the point of view. How does unfaithfulness influence our daily life? Is it painful, does it hurt us? Are we upset, sad and bitter because of being cheated? How can I look at God's eyes when I cheat on someone? These are questions for what it is hard to answer. But let us think about our relation with God in it. Does it mean that God is faithful and we may trust in his promises with our doubts? What can happen if he cheats us? What about my relation toward him? How do I feel when I face that I cheated The Lord?
The days of February are going on and we celebrate faithfulness, love in relations, remember and think about it. Is His love burden for me which binds my "freedom", or can I see it as a gift? This is something what gives me security, and the promises what are messages from God, what makes us to feel secure in His presence. Because of his faithfulness.
Let us read some Valentine’s messages from The Lord: Psalm 91,4; Psalm 100,5; Lamentation 3,23; Gal 5,22; 2Tim 2,13
