Is God's Kingdom within us spreading progressively?
Do we understand how great our God is? - Our mind is limited, we often appear unable to realize His actual greatness.
In order to bring God's love into the world and be a blessing to people
we have to be aware of what is our attitude towards this world.
Let us consider some attitudes of different people, based on the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37).
Yours is mine.
The attitude of the robbers is that of someone saying: "I need what
belongs to you, so what is yours must become mine"; an attitude that
gives rise to controversy, quarrels, even wars. This is an attitude of
the Satan. Jesus says that it is the Satan's teaching what those who
rob and kill follow.
Mine is mine
The
attitude of the priest and the Levite can be summarised as follows:
"What I have, surely belongs to me." This is an attitude of
self-important and self satisfied people – busy with their own
important duties and thoughts, pressed by time they can give thousands
of excuses for passing by.
Beware
of thoughts like these: "I am ok, everything is fine in our church, and
things go smoothly in my country - why should I care about the Christians
in far-away countries?" This is how an attitude of a passer-by develops
and living Christianity gets replaced by religion.
Mine is yours
The attitude of the Samaritan put in simple words means: "What is mine
becomes yours". It is an attitude of one who gives and shares, the
attitude of God. "For God loved the
world so much that He gave his only Son. God gave His son so that
whoever believes in Him may not be lost, but have eternal life" (John
3:16).
Just
imagine: had God kept His Son to Himself we would have never come to
believe in Christ! Urged by love, God shares, gives away what He has
got - "what is mine becomes yours" - and Jesus comes, forgives
our sins, gives us vision for the future, hope, making us see sense in
this life.
Thus here is an answer. If we want to be a blessing to people we have to be givers.
Dear sisters, ''We love because God first loved us" (1John 4:19).
Having received love from our dear Lord, let us share!
Let us share our time, energy, bread, attention, and love because what we have got has been given to us by God! Go!
