Germany

  • Pray for the German Baptist Women. They need God's wisdom to make all the right decisions in the process of renewing the Women's Work.

El Salvador

  • Hurricane Ida caused devastation and destroyed a Baptist church. Eight persons, including seven children, are missing after the destruction of First Baptist Church in San Vicente in the Central American country of El Salvador. The church collapsed following heavy showers and flooding on Sunday, November 8, 2009. Gloria Cabrera de Rivera, former president of the Baptist Women's Union of Latin America, asks your prayers for the families of the victims and for possibilities to repair the material loss.

Estonia

  • Pray for the Russian speaking sisters in Estonia. It is very important, that they can listen and talk in their mother language on very real, burning topics, such as counselling, women as wives, women as servant-ministers, medical issues, Biblical subjects, etc.

Indonesia

  • On Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 14.55 a 7.3 Richter Scale earthquake struck off the coast of West Java. Please pray for the victims of this disaster. Pray for Ingrid Subagyo, president of the women in Indonesia, still working on several solutions to meet the need of people overthere.

Spain

  • Since July in the city of Denia, where Susie Mefford lives, several women from three denominations have come together and are 'prayer-walking' around the streets of the city. These women have a deep concern for the prostitution issue and the anti-trafficking network. Please pray for Noemi Abad who is working in the office co-ordinating this work. Pray for this venture that many girls and women would be rescued from the depravity of prostitution and trafficking. Pray that some will meet Jesus and surrender their lives to Him."

Ukraine
  • Pray for the summer camps for women in this country. These camps teach the participants to live closer to God, closer to people, to preserve unity in churches, communities and families. All these qualities are necessary to fulfill the main goal – to proclaim the name of God to people and to carry the Gospel of Salvation into the fallen world.

South West Pacific - Prayer Partner of Europe

  • New Zealand - Pray for a spirit of peace to rest on the homes. Each year, in this country of just 4.3 million people, about 11 women die and another 400 are hospitalised due to assault. And domestic violence increases in the Christmas season. Abortions also number around 18,000 per year. Pray that a culture of life may replace the culture of death.
  • Australia - Pray for Baptist Women's Ministries across Australia, and for the national coordinator Jo Jarlett as she seeks to unite Baptist women around the country. Pray for the national Baptist women's Living life magazine as it seeks to highlight ethical issues pertinent to women and children.
  • Fiji - Pray for the restoration of democracy and that the churches will experience more freedom. Pray that Christians will remain joyful and hopeful in adversity.
  • Papua New Guinea, has the highest incidence of AIDS in the Pacific. Some 2% of the adult population are estimated to be HIV positive. Pray that the church will speak out more about the AIDS problem and how the disease can be prevented.
  • Papua - Pray for peace to spread across the country, and that ethnic tensions will lessen, especially between Christian and Muslim groups. Pray for Christians to be strong in difficult situations.

Personal Prayer Requests

  • Pray for our President Livija Lame. For health and strength and inspiration on all her journeys. Also for her daughter, Marta who recently narrowly escaped from death herself in a car accident, but lost a good friend in the same accident.
  • Ida Groover, the mother of our secretary/treasurer of the BWA Women's Department Donna Groover has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her prognosis seems good, but it gives Ida and her family great comfort to know that women/people all over the world are lifting her up in prayer for a good response to the chemo treatments. Praying for Ida, let's pray also for all those women facing cancer in their lives. Pray that organizations like Pink Ribbon can make a difference too.
  • Bärbel Volker wrote her story in this issue. Please pray for women in equivalent conditions. They need the support of our prayer to come to their personal decisions.
  • The husband of Elisabeth Vekas, our treasurer, has a serious illness. Pray for strength for the whole family serving God in their daily life as a pastors' family.
  • Marjan Wensink, for several years member of the board of the Baptist Women's work, has lost her husband Hans in October 2009. Pray for strength and comfort for her and her children.

All countries

  • Pray for "Breaking the Silence on Female Genital Mutilation and Domestic Violence" not only in Sierra Leone in the article of the Norwegian sisters, but in all countries.
  • Pray for State decisions like the Dutch Government recently did: to make a law that it is forbidden for parents to have their daughters circumcised. Visiting their homeland they can show an official document to avoid the cultural influence of their relatives. www.saynotoviolence.org
