Christmas message by Fabienne Seguin

Dear Sisters and Friends,

Are there circumstances when you feel, or have felt, that there was no room, no place for you? Each of us has, at least once, experienced being rejected (because of age, gender, language, religion, the colour of her skin, nationality etc). Some people are even rejected by their own parents before their birth. When Jesus came into this world, there was no place for Him. During His ministry, many people rejected Him. In many hearts and in many lives, there is no room for Jesus today. There is a secret place where there is always room for us: the heart of God, the Kingdom of God It is a place where our differences, our uniquenesses are celebrated. What good news! And the access is free because Jesus already paid it - it cost Him His life! Jesus came into this world with a mission: to reconcile us with God. Our sin separates us from Him, and we will remain sinners. But Jesus is the way, truth and life. In Him are Hope, Grace and Peace. Let us share this news with other people, let us make room in our lives and in our hearts for them to welcome them. We should be brave and shine to bring light and warmth to those who are still walking in the darkness.

When we look at the world we live in, we see depressed people, rejected people, trafficked people, abused people, persecuted people, people suffering injustice, wars. They will not find light nor warmth and hope in Christmas candles and in Christmas decorations. The true light comes from inside of us. It comes from the Holy Spirit. Let us welcome them as God has welcomed us.

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven"  Matthew 5 :14-16.

My dear Sisters and Friends, I’m writing my last  official  Christmas greetings to you. As you know, next year, I will finish with the presidency of EBWU and a new committee will be elected. I will miss you and I will always keep you in my heart. You have been a daily encouragement to me and I do hope that I could uphold you in your Christian life and in your ministry. May I ask you to pray for the next committee please?

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I remember more specifically those who are grieving, those who are suffering from consequences of war or from persecution and those who are struggling against a disease. You are not alone. God is with you - Immanuel is His name and we lift you up in prayer to Him.
