Unterwege miteinander

Did you know that in Germany there is a magazine which is produced every other month specifically for women? It is the "Unterwege miteinander". The editor is Freikirchlicher Gemeninden in Deutschland K. dö. R". Every issue has a central topic with corresponding articles which connect to our everyday life and its problems. Many of the articles give advice on how to solve some of our day to day problems.

In each issue, there is a column which has an article on foreign missions. There was one, which I especially enjoyed reading and found it to be very encouraging to me. It was about a South African mission group. This mission group had organized an early Morning Prayer time on the daily commuter train. If you will, envision being on that morning commuter train where, in the company of halfawake commuters, there are people singing and talking about God!

Another article I read was about a woman who suffered from deep depression and was ready to commit suicide. The article told how she could find her way to the true light.

It was so refreshing to read about the traditional meaning of a woman's role in life. The 'traditional' woman looks after her family, which includes taking care of her children and often taking care of aging parents. It reemphasized to me that the most important goal for any woman is not to seek the highest salary as is taught by the world's values. Rather her role is to be the loving care giver to her family and neighbors.

Another article on prayer really touched my heart. What happens when I pray for someone or when someone prays for me? We must realize the awesome responsibility each of us has in lifting one another up to the Lord daily. In one town, the women organized a prayer chain. They were committed to inform one another of prayer needs and concerns; thus bonding these prayer partners together in prayer. They found many new friends even from other denominations. This is not always an easy task since one must be committed to pray and this takes time.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this magazine and look forward to doing so again in the future. I have come to realize that not only does it allow me to practice my German, but I have gained much help in its teachings. The only problem is that it was too short.

Thank you my sisters for your efforts in this magazine. May God bless your ministry!
