Christmas Message

« Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying
Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth the peace to those on whom his favor rests » Luke 2:13-14

Looking at the map of the countries that are part of the EBWU, we cannot see any peaceful places at the moment. God sent His son, more than 2,000 years ago to save us, to bring us hope, to deliver us from darkness and make us free, and to allow us to spend eternity with Him in His Kingdom, although we don’t deserve it. Life was hard at the time of Jesus. And today, how many of us are struggling with personal matters or hard circumstances and are longing for peace in their everyday lives ? Jesus came and taught us the Christian way of life. He taught us how to behave towards the authorities, towards our enemies, how to behave in times of disease, in times of poverty, in times of persecution, in times of war, in times of crisis… He taught us to bless people around us through love and to forget ourselves and to uphold one another. That’s the Church !

Soon we will celebrate Jesus’ birth. Not only that Jesus came and « visited » us but He paid the price to save us. So let us give Him, every morning, the first place in our lives so that He can « visit » us everyday and so that He can renew our strengh, refresh our mind, teach us and guide us.

Let us pray for those among us who are not allowed to celebrate Jesus, who are threatened or endangered when they gather together, those who are alone or sick or imprisonned, those who are refugees and far from their beloved ones… Jesus only can give us peace, His special peace. And His grace is upon us. Whatever our circumstances are, we belong to Him. He can pour His peace in the most precious place, our heart.

« Peace I leave with you ; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid » John 14:27.

My beloved Sisters, as Christmas time is coming, I pray that you will feel His presence close to you at any time and that you will experiment His Joy and His peace. I pray for unity among us and I praise the Lord who is binding us together.

Love and blessings,
Fabienne Seguin
