Up and down. Do you like to walk in the fields or among the hills? I do. As I and my family or friends are climbing up to the peak of the mountain out of breath we are happy when the path runs downhill. But after a while we have to realize that going uphill isn't so much more tiring than walking downhill, when our legs begin to tremble and the whole body makes a tremendous effort holding them back.

Well, it seems very similar to our spiritual journey through life. Once we climb up to greater heights and another time we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Of course it is more joyful to go up to the peak but walking through the valley of the shadow of death shapes our spirit and teaches us to become a bit better and see the events of our live with new eyes.

But don't forget - at the end of your journey someone is waiting for you and will lead you up to the greatest heights. In summer as you walk in the open air think about your spiritual pilgrimage, and give Him thanks for this wonderful possibility that you may walk with Him, having His strong arms around you, guiding you. Share this experience of God's love with your neighbours!
