We
have ‘ups’ and ‘downs’; sometimes things run smoothly for us and at
other times trouble and trials enter our lives – that is life as we
know it. The Lord asks us to follow Him; He did not say that the
road ahead would be easy but He did promise to be with us always.
At
present, my Pastor is preaching from the book of Nehemiah on Sunday
evenings. I like the way Nehemiah organised his work force as
they rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem and coped with the opposition they
faced (Nehemiah ch.4). The people worked together and watched out
for each other, and they worked with all their heart.
Yes,
we are all different, with different outlooks on life and varying
opinions, but we are together as we seek to serve the Lord. We
know that we are the body of Christ:
‘The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all
its parts are many, they form one body… We were all baptised by one
Spirit into one body – whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free – and we
were all given the one Spirit to drink… God has arranged the parts in
the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be.’
(1Corinthians 12:12, 13, 18). We know that Christ is the Head of the body: ‘From
Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting
ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its
work.’ (Ephesians 4: 16).
In
EBWU we are many parts but we make up a whole. We represent
different countries and various groups of women but we are one in
purpose and so it is good to hear from the countries that make up EBWU,
to hear what the women are doing and how God is working through them to
fulfil His plans and purposes, to hear of the work and the projects the
women are involved in. We can support each other and pray for one
another. The
Lord has given each of us gifts, talents, abilities which are to be
used for Him where He has placed us in His body. We are not to
work in isolation but together. As you read the article in this
issue from Albania it is worth nothing that the women there ‘do their
part’ for God’s Kingdom. All the women’s groups are working
together, young and old alike, working for the good of one another,
working for the salvation of others, working for the glory of
God. I trust that is true for us all as we continue to serve the
Lord. May you all know His abundant blessings in your lives and
on your work.
